Conserved Lands Database and Interactive Map

Client: Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts

Location: Oregon

The mission of the Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts (COLT) is to strengthen the land trust community by creating a unified, statewide voice to advocate for tools and resources to support member land trust missions. In order to do so, they need to be able to readily access and summarize member data.

We designed a standardized  database that allows COLT to manage, track, and summarize member and project specific information over time. Standardized queries support all data retrieval and summation needs.

“The conserved lands database and interactive map is a great tool for us. Before we meet with legislators we can use the database and map to look up what member projects are in a legislator’s district. This allows us to share relevant stories and lets us come to the meeting more informed.”

Additionally, our team developed a web-based map viewer that provides a visual display of key datasets in an interactive format to support policy advocacy. Examples of key datasets include member project points, legislative districts, county boundaries, ecoregions, and watershed boundaries. The viewer and database are secure and password protected, ensuring that only credentialed users have access to sensitive information.
