Recognizing the Service of Our Public Partners

Author: Kimi Shigetani Published: May 4, 2021

Since 1985, Public Service Recognition Week has been observed during the first week of May. The week is dedicated to recognizing the people who serve our nation as federal, state, county, local, and tribal government employees.

Our team has been fortunate to regularly work alongside public agency staff. Over the past year, we have admired their grit and determination when presented with new challenges related to the global pandemic. (Shortages in funding, virtual schooling, getting residents vaccinated, just to name a few!)

Meeting the immediate needs of a community while working to achieve its long-term aspirations requires balancing a lot of priorities. We have also seen our public partners answer the call to advance equity in our communities, address the impacts of climate change, and provide greater access to affordable housing.

Although our words can never express our gratitude for those who devote their lives to the greater good, we want to give both a shout-out and a sincere thank you to our friends and partners who work as public servants. We appreciate you keeping the lights on, keeping our roads safe, teaching our children, maintaining our tax dollars, moving critical goods, and so much more. Your passion and dedication makes the world a better place, and we are lucky to count you as colleagues, partners, and friends.

Please join us in celebrating Public Service Recognition Week by thanking the public service workers near you.
